There are not many events that get bigger than the Olympics. What would it be like to be a photographer there, the long hours and meeting deadlines. Kate and I have been following her friend Nhat Meyer who has been blogging about his experience shooting at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Make the jump for the link to his blog and a few more words on this great photog.
Nhat originally hails from Colorado but has been working as a staff photog for the Mercury News in San Jose CA since March of 2000 and this isn’t the first time he has covered an Olympics. Nhat began developing his mad Olympic shooting skills at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and then attended the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Being a photog myself I always enjoy hearing the behind the scenes account of what it took to get a shot. People have this perception that photogs are just able to get amazing photos on the first click of the shutter and do not realize that it takes a lot of hard work to get that one image that wows. Nhat does a great job in telling what him and some of the other photogs are going through to bring the rest of the world those amazing images.
So here is Nhat’s blog, check it out and keep up with him on his grand adventure fraught with early mornings, long days and not so healthy food.
Also check out Nhat’s web site where he has links to his blogs for the other two Olympics he covered.
